Finca La Falda is located in Giraldo, Antioquia, Colombia and is run by Rubiel Alberto Higuita and his family. The farm sits at an elevation of approximately 1950masl, and this particular lot is 100% Caturra.
While Rubiel and his wife generally oversee the entire harvest, Finca La Falda is a family run operation and his children also help out with various aspects such as the fermentation, washing and drying of the coffee. During the harvest, although the entire family is involved, they also hire 4-5 additional workers mainly to help out with cherry selection. When they are not in harvest, Rubiel and his sons will handle the farm maintenance themselves and outside of coffee, they also grow beans and corn (products that are quite common on coffee farms in Colombia).
This particular coffee is special because it was inoculated with outside yeasts during the fermentation process, and it won 1st place in the Antioquia Magico contest this year!
